Green Music Australia

Green Music Australia is the peak body for music and the environment in Australia. Led by a staff and board of musicians and music industry workers, our role is to organise, facilitate and inspire artists and the broader sector to make changes to improve their environmental performance and to advocate for ambitious climate action. Our programs include:

  • Venues are a major source of carbon emissions, with overseas research putting their contribution at around 23% of the music sector’s total impact. Our Green Venue Program supports venue operators and staff to implement positive changes to reduce their footprint and rewards them for taking action.

The program is underpinned by the Green Venue Certification scheme, which incentivises and celebrates venues undertaking positive change for the planet. Participating venues will be assessed for their action in key environmental areas and published as a certified venue. EOIs are now open to join this scheme.
